The Philadelphia Marathon
Are you ready for the Philadelphia Marathon? On Sunday November 23rd, the Philadelphia Marathon, also known as one of the most historic races in the nation, will take place. The route covers fast and mostly flat terrain. Runners will cross the heart of Philadelphia and some of the city’s most iconic landmarks — including Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House and the Liberty Bell. By the Delaware River, the route takes you along iconic streets in Olde City along Penn’s Landing, and eventually arrives near the green and leafy pathways of the recently restored Fairmount Water Works, located on the Schuylkill River. The Philadelphia Marathon is a 26.2-mile course and is anticipated to have over 30,000 runners this year. Along the route, runners can partake in hydration stations, bursts of energy from Clif Shots and get cheered on by thousands watching the action. For spectators there will be amazing cheer spots and race maps that can be found here!
Warm up for the race at the Health and Fitness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. All race weekend participants are required to stop by the Pennsylvania Convention Center prior to the Marathon to pick up their race packets, including a race bib, timing tag, t-shirt and bag. The Expo is free and open to the public with 2014 Philadelphia Marathon merchandise available along with the latest products and ideas in the worlds of running, fitness and nutrition.
