  • 2014 Oscars RECAP

In case you missed it, the Oscars brought winners, losers and most importantly, pizza. Playful host Ellen DeGeneres created a fun, down-to-earth atmosphere at the Oscars by offering pizza pies to Hollywood’s biggest stars. Later, she persuaded movie moguls like Brad Pitt to chip in money for the pizza guy and collected the donations in Pharrell’s deep Smokey-the-Bear hat.

Ellen DeGeneres not only stirred up laughs in the Dolby Theater, but she also single-handedly shut down Twitter by posting a “selfie” with A-list celebrities.

As predicted, the coveted Best Picture award went to the cast and crew of 12 Years a Slave. Actress Lupita Nyong’O of 12 Years a Slave gave an emotionally beautiful acceptance speech after winning Best Supporting Actress. The starlet appeared genuinely surprised and gracious as she held back tears of joy.

Musical numbers included Karen O’s sweet rendition of “Moon Song” from the Original Screenplay winner Her and U2‘s acoustic version of “Ordinary Love” from biography film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Also gracing the stage, Idina Menzel belted Original Song winner “Let It Go” gaining a standing ovation from the audience. But the most joyous number that even had the audience moving along was Pharrell’s “Happy” that featured ecstatic dancers of all ages.
