    It’s that time of the year again, Frankford Hall opens up their venue for its annual Frankford Hall Oktoberfest block party on Saturday, September 20th.     Thursday, October 2:

    On Thursday October 2nd Philadelphia’s supreme food truck festival returns for the last Night Market of 2014! Join Philadelphia’s finest food trucks in Chinatown while listening to live music, enjoying craft beers and delicious eats! It is highly recommended to stop by the famous Prime Stache truck for a new look at classic bar foods. After visiting all of the trucks you can, your last stop must be Yakitori Boy, Philadelphia’s first Japas lounge bar located right there in Chinatown!

From 10am to 6:30pm the festival spotlights more than 100 pumpkin beers and ciders along with a variety of pumpkin cocktails.     Whats better than bacon? A festival dedicated to bacon! On Saturday, October 4th, Xfinity Live! is hosting the 2014 inaugural Pennsylvania Bacon Festival. Not only is this a day-long festival filled with everything bacon but, there are multiple different bacon-offs and bacon eating competitions to either watch or participate in!     Who does LOVE the Reading Terminal Market? It’s getting even better on October 12th – From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a portion of Filbert Street will be closed to traffic and transformed into an urban farm, complete with hay bales and corn stalks. Kids and adults walk through an on-site pumpkin patch, ride an authentic farm tractor and enjoy freshly prepared donuts, candy apples and other seasonal treats. There will even be live music!

    How far away is Spring again?! Why does NYFW always do this to us?? A week ago we were so excited to pull out our boots, cardigans, chunky knits and fur vests (faux, of course), but after seeing what these designers have in store for spring 2015, we cannot wait for April to come back around!   • Fashion Touchdown: An Exclusive Evening of Fashion & Football for Charity

    Check out this awesome event benefitting Big Brothers, Big Sisters – Southeastern Pennslyvania and featuring many Eagles players – both old & new!


    Zarwin Baum and Boyds will present Fashion Touchdown: An Exclusive Evening of Fashion & Football for Charity on Tuesday, September 16th 2014.

    For the evening, Philadelphia Eagles Fletcher Cox, Jeremy Maclin, DeMeco Ryans and Mark Sanchez will trade footballs for fashion in a night of giving big. There will also be appearances by comedian and TV personality Joe Conklin, 94WIP host and former Philadelphia Eagle Mike Quick, former Philadelphia Eagle Hollis ThomasVince Papale, and AJ Feeley, who will be joined by wife, former professional soccer player and Olympian Heather Mitts Feeley.

    As guests enjoy cocktails and lite bites, the Eagles players will don clothes from Boyds as they participate in a trendy fashion show, emceed by FOX29 Good Day Philadelphia co-anchors Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley to raise funds and awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA. The night will kick off with a VIP reception beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main event at 6:00 p.m.

  • Restaurant Week at Yakitori Boy

    We are so excited Restaurant Week is among us! We ventured to Yakitori Boy to spoil ourselves with their $35 five-course restaurant week menu.  There were so many delicious things to choose from it was hard to pick!

    We started off our dinner with the avocado salad which was a spring mix salad topped with a sliced avocado and ginger dressing. We had to treat ourselves to a delicious fruity cocktail as well!

    Following the amazing salad, we enjoyed a pick of the famous Yakitori skewers from a list of 8 mouth-watering options. Seen below is Rib-Eye, Salmon & Scallion and Quail Eggs wrapped in Bacon! YUM!

    We took on our third course by choosing one of three sushi rolls including the Tokai roll, He roll or Eagles roll….All equally as delicious!

    Filling up super fast we jumped to our fourth course (the entrée) with options that include your choice of surf or turf. We went with the Grilled Whole Lobster!

    To put the cherry on top, our fifth course was dessert, which included three options, two being Japanese dessert classics and one classic French treat! We choice the Tempura Ice Cream, and although we were stuffed it was too good to pass up!

  • Korto Momolu SS15

    Liberian born, this fashion designer Korto Momlu showed her SS15 collection this past Monday, Septemeber 8th at New York Fashion Week. Korto Momolu (cut.toe – mo.mo.lu) known for expressing her rich heritage through traditional, luxury fabrics, skins and prints revealed  some of her feirce new looks that match her fiesty personality. This year her styles were proven to be a mixture of metallics and vibrant prints, take a look at, just a couple of styles seen at studio 450 for Korto Momolu’s NYFW show.

    Receiving the gift of life with her son Cameron, caused Korto to rebirth her line using fashion week to express the enjoyment of reinventing  her brand. Growing with her clients Korto Momolu shows her power of adaptaptation to her new and previous consumers .

    Receiving the amazing opportunity to team up with Shea Moistrure, the two put on a stunning show to reveal the new Korto Momolu, ending the show by walking with the lines inspirtation, Korto Momolu and her baby son strutted down the runway together for a heart warming finale.

    Calvin Klein threw an amazing Fragrance Launch Party for REVEAL on September 8th at 4 World Trade Center. Spotted Celebs: Joe Jonas, Amber Heard, Rosario Dawson and a live performance by Rita Ora and Iggy Azalea.

    Instyle Hosted their 20th Anniversary party on September 8th at Diamond Horseshow at the Paramount Hotel. Spotted Celebs: Jennifer Hudson, Abigail Breslin, Jamie Chung, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Diane Kruger.


    The hottest party so far had to of been Samsung GALAXY at Harper’s BAZAAR Celebrates Icons by Carine Rotifeld at The Plaza Hotel on September 5. Spotted Celebs: Lady Gaga, Taylor Kinney, Brooke Shields, Nicki Minaj, and Dontella Versace.


    And of course, Miley Cyrus was still trying to shock party goers at Alexander Wang’s after party as she stepped out in just ice cream cone shaped nipple tassels.

    Saturday, September 6:

    This Saturday, September 6th  from 12pm to 6pm, the Fairmont Area is hosting The Great Philadelphia Craft Beer Crawl. Enjoy craft beer samplers, Gardens, and drink specials from the dozens of Craft Beer options.   • Things to do in Philly the Weekend of 8/9


    Did someone say bacon? Yes, that’s right. The 2nd annual Bacon Festival (rescheduled from last weekend) is taking place Friday, August 8th at 5:00 PM at The Oval on the Ben Franklin Parkway! Expect food trucks delivering an overload of bacon themed treats, recipe demonstrations, games and contests! YUM.


    On Saturday, August 9th at 8:00 AM, Linvilla Orchards in Media, PA will be celebrating peach month with their annual Peach Festival! Musical performaces, homemade jam preps, pony rides, face painting, and more! Admission is free-entertain the kiddies and indulge in some peach flavored sweets!


    Into the EDM scene? Then there’s no doubt that you’ll be at the Mad Decent Block Party Friday night, August 8th, at Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing. This insane night of fist-pumping music kicks off at 3 PM and Union Transfer is hosting an after party!


    This Saturday and Sunday, August 9th and 10th, the Eastern State Penitentiary is hosting an event called Pets in Prison. Adding to their normal tours, the prison will be focusing on animals-stories of inmate’s pets, guard dogs, and Pep the Dog, the penitentiary’s own pup prisoner! These tours will be held from 10AM to 5PM and tickets are available online!


    The Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art is hosting its own musical daylong concert and barbecue this Saturday, August 9th starting at 1:30 PM. With a line up of over 10 local bands, Philly Summer Fest is sure to be a great time. Bring your own food and participate in this community music fest on North 12th street!


    Fishtown’s hot spot, Johnny Brenda’s, is hosting a Gospel Brunch this Sunday, August 10th at 11 AM. DJ DNA will be spinning R&B tunes until 3 PM while you get your fill of soul music! And pancakes, of course.
